Leader in Outdoor & Environmental Education and Stewardship
Beautiful & Sustainable Facilities
One of the benefits of a visit to Camp Kawartha is our commitment to your exclusive use of the site for the duration of your visit. However, we know that for smaller schools with smaller classes sometimes meeting our minimum thresholds is a challenge. You can share the site with another class or school and participate in our special partnership pricing. (see Rates page)
Wholesome and Local Food
We know that a healthy diet leads to better learning. We place great emphasis on providing wholesome and delicious meals as well as choosing suppliers from our region as much as possible. Our “Thank a Farmer” initiative will help your students connect to our food providers helping them understand that the ideal distance from farm to fork is the shortest distance! We take the health and safety of our guests seriously. Your students and supervisors with special dietary needs and/or food allergies are given individual attention and alternative meals.
Excellence in Programming
Our outdoor education programs are educational, engaging, and just plain fun! Every program is linked to the Ontario Curriculum, to the UN Sustainability Goals and to our Environmental Stewardship Framework. Check out our programs for more detail.
Professional & Dedicated Staff
Our educators, all university graduates, many teacher-trained, share a passion and lifetime commitment to excellence in education in the outdoors. They bring a wide variety of talents from storytelling, drama, music, a vast knowledge of natural history, to teambuilding, problem solving, communication and leadership. Their tool kit of innovative teaching strategies will amaze you and your students!
Small Learning Groups
Students benefit from a low student to instructor ratio (usually 1 instructor to 15 students, or less) to optimize learning. Your students will be more engaged and provides instructors with the opportunity to learn about student capabilities and interests.
