Following the Ontario government’s announcement that schools will remain closed until May, our two facilities also remain temporarily closed at this time to help protect the people in our community and flatten the curve.
If you have any questions about our programs and services, our office staff are still busy working behind the scenes from home and can be reached by email or by leaving a message on our voicemail.
We also invite you to follow us on Facebook or Twitter and visit our Activity Resources page for Jacob’s ‘Nature Notes’ as well as fun activities for your kids.

As the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve, the health and safety of our visitors, employees and the communities we serve remains a top priority.
The Ontario Government has just declared a state of emergency and has mandated the closure of all recreational facilities. Camp Kawartha is suspending its day, overnight and outreach programming until April 5th, 2020 at which time we will re-evaluate our status. We recognize that this is a fluid situation and the Ontario Government may extend the closure period beyond this date.
Until further notice our small team of Administration staff will continue to work in the office, some working remotely, responding to inquiries by telephone and email. Check our Contact Us page for a staff directory and phone extension numbers.
Camp Kawartha’s management team and board of directors continue to monitor information provided by our government, and we are staying in regular contact with Peterborough Public Health and the Ontario Camps Association for their guidance.

A Message from our Executive Director
For Camp Kawartha, the health and safety of our campers and visitors is a top priority. We wanted to let you know that we are working with our Health Care team, with the Ontario Camps Association and other professional organizations to develop a robust response to the Coronavirus. The situation is rapidly evolving and we are taking measures to ensure the well-being of all who come into contact with Camp Kawartha. Some of these are:
- Increasing our cleaning regime, including wiping down surfaces such as table tops, door knobs and counter tops with anti-bacterial solution
- Postponing the visit of groups to our outdoor education, facility rentals and environment centre programs.
- Keeping in regular contact with Peterborough Public Health and the Ontario Camps Association (OCA) in order to receive the most up to date information possible.
We’ll keep you posted on any future developments. We hope that all of you stay healthy and safe.
If you can, one of the healthiest places to be is outside. So take this opportunity to hike, walk and explore the wonder of early spring. Thank you for your patience. Together, we will get through this!
Best Wishes,
Jacob Rodenburg (B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed)
Executive Director
