It’s almost here!  Summer Camp is looming large.  This is full summer camp with all sessions raring to go!  Summer Camp staff have arrived, and they are going through some intensive training.  Staff are busy making sure our site is safe and ready; they’re busy inventorying equipment, ordering new supplies and finalizing programming. Staff are full of energy, creativity and ideas.  This will be one amazing summer!

The Counsellor Skills Development (CSDs), Leaders in Training (LITs), and Wilderness Counsellor Skills Development (WCSDs) are arriving too.  These incredible youth are our staff of the future, learning the skills necessary to be a successful Counsellor or Trip Leader.

At our Environment Centre located in Peterborough on the Trent University campus, hundreds of Day Campers are getting ready to connect with nature, to hike, explore, create and make friends.  Our pledge is to send them back to parents, exhausted, a little dirty and happy by the end of the day.

The countdown is on, and A-Day (Arrival Day) is Sunday, July 2nd when the first session officially begins!  Over 1,000 campers will participate between July and August – some of them will be Kinder Campers (4- to 6-year-olds) and some will be Canoe Trippers (14-to -17 years old) and there a whole lot of them in-between! We are excited to welcome them all.  Summer Camp 2023 here we come!!

A MESSAGE ABOUT SUMMER CAMP PHOTOS

In previous summers, we have offered a photo gallery to families so that they could see some pictures of what’s happening at camp during their child’s stay. Our photo hosting site (Shutterfly) has recently closed down, and we are testing out an alternative system this summer. A link to the session gallery will be sent out to families ahead of their camper’s session.

The photo gallery is intended to give families a glance at what’s going on at camp during/after their child’s stay with us. We cannot provide photos of every child while they are at camp. With very limited internet capacity and a large number of campers to capture, uploading photos of over 130+ campers each week is not possible for us to undertake.

We will do our best to upload photos to the photo gallery when we are able but must prioritize our internet services for office work and essential communication with families. Along with this, please do not contact us during your child’s stay requesting photos of your child. Our offices field hundreds of emails every day, and we will not be able to be responded to these e-mails.

If you are hoping for photos of your child while they are at camp, we highly encourage you to send them with a disposable camera or inexpensive or durable alternative! This way, they will be able to take pictures each day of their camp experience, and you will have them to reflect on and share once they get home!
