August 31st marked the last day of our Summer Camp program for this year. And it has been quite the ride!

The Clear Lake Site Experience
The windstorm (called a “Derecho”) in May damaged buildings and wiped out stands of forest that had stood for more than 140 years (at last count more than 600 toppled over!). We dealt with a storm whose aftermath was nothing like we ever could have imagined! We rushed to prep the Camp facilities for Summer Camp opening on July 1st! Then, as luck would have had it, another storm hit on June 16th, and we were again working feverishly to clean up, repair, and make sure our site was ready and safe for the opening of Summer Camp. This was made possible by the amazing help given by volunteers, donors, and area businesses. We are so fortunate to have such good friends.
Our campers came and have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Our Summer Camp staff jumped through hoops to provide engaging programming and ensure every camper was made to feel special and valued; Healthcare staff took care of all ailments, homesickness, and tummy-troubles; Housekeeping staff kept cabins, the dining hall, classrooms and washrooms clean and hygienic; Maintenance staff put in a herculean effort to ensure the cabins and site were ready, safe, and well maintained; Office staff coordinated all the camper logistics and pitched in wherever needed.
Kudos to all staff and volunteers for pulling everything together.
Kudos to parents for understanding when changes had to be made.
Kudos to the campers for opening themselves up to every experience!

Another summer of Environment Centre Day Camps has come and gone!
We extend a HUGE thank you to all of the wonderful campers (ages 4 to 15) who joined us this summer for fun, adventure, exploration, and learning in/about Nature and the Environment. We truly enjoyed ourselves! Your enthusiasm and willingness to learn, work and play alongside us make it so worthwhile!!!
Thanks too to the many parents, guardians, grandparents, families, etc who make it all possible! And finally, to our wonderful staff and volunteers for providing caring, creative, and engaging nature-based programming day in and day out in the summer heat!
We wish you and yours a lovely start to the fall and back-to-school season. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
