At the end of every fiscal year (September 30th) we report on the number of campers and students we are able to support through our subsidy program. From October 1st, 2022, to June 23rd, 2023, Camp Kawartha was able to directly assist 1,052 students and their families with an outdoor education subsidy!
Those students would not have been able to attend had it not been for the generous donors that support our Subsidy Fund. One Principal wrote to explain…
“… Without the subsidy being offered, many of our students would never be able to attend or even visit Camp Kawartha, as so many of our families experience major socioeconomic challenges. Most of the families do not have the extra money to pay for their children to participate in extracurricular activities or field trips. The subsidy will allow students to participate in the outdoor education programming at Camp Kawartha which builds community and culture, raises expectations, and increases connection between students. This is an excellent opportunity for our students. It would be an enriching experience for them, not only academically but also socially and mentally as well.”
After the visit the teacher wrote…
“We had an amazing trip to Camp Kawartha! Life-changing experience for all!!”
We thank all those people who have given to our Subsidy Fund. Your impact is profound – as the teacher stated, ‘life-changing’! Wow!
