Day Camp Counselor

Hey there! This is going to be my 6th year at Camp Kawartha and my 1st year on staff! I’m super excited to be returning up to my favourite place for another awesome summer! I’m currently finishing up my grade 11 year at Bill Hogarth Secondary School in Markham, where I’m an executive member in our school’s French council and I’m a defensive player on our flag football team. For the past 14 years, dance has been a super big part of my life. I’ve been dancing recreationally since I was three years old and competitively since I was eight years old, and my tap dancing shoes are definitely a key item in my packing list this summer. I’ve also spent four years as an assistant dance teacher for children ages 3-8, helping teach new moves, choreography and I’ve even performed on stage with them many times! More recently, I’ve been able to have some amazing travelling opportunities. With my school I went to France and Greece, and with my family we travelled to France and Spain. Camp Kawartha has remained my home for the past five years. It’s been a major life changing experience, because here I’ve been able to totally come out of my shell, gain confidence, leadership skills and I’ve met some of my best friends. I love camp because of the amazing people, who are completely unforgettable and some of my favorite people, the wonderful experiences that I have been exposed to, our site, and the stories that have stayed with me for a for a long time.

Helping the environment is super important to me. I’ve made a bunch of small changes in my daily life to make differences to help with climate change. I like to carpool and use transit as often as I can, I’ve cut down on eating red meat and single-use plastic like plastic bags and straws, I use reusable containers, donate a lot old products like toys and clothes rather than throwing them out, and I carry a reusable water bottle with me everywhere I go.
