(2 1/2 day program)
Bring history to life for your students by having them participate in a simulated historical fur trade from New France. A wonderful learning opportunity that leaves textbooks and overheads far behind as students re-enact an exchange of trade goods and fur. Students become a “Coureur du Bois” and outfit themselves with “trade goods” that they barter for “fur.” Students learn about the differing social, cultural and economic approaches to trade by Europeans and Indigenous people. This is a remarkable program that involves role-playing, strategic thinking, planning and teamwork. Our site has a log trading post outfitted with replicas of many of the trade goods used in the fur trade.
