Fruit Loops
Not the sugary cereal, I’m talking real food! Take an assortment of dried fruit such as apples, dates, apricots, raisins and cranberries and string them together with a needle and thread to create tasty lengths of fruity goodness.
Cereal Bracelets
Cut pieces of string about 6” long and slide plain cheerios on the pieces and tie them to create crunchy little bracelets perfect for the ends of branches.
Popcorn Strings
Even if we don’t get much snow this year, popcorn gives the impression of snow covered trees. Create long strings of popcorn (no butter or salt please) and criss-cross them through the evergreens.
Slices are Nice
Hang thin, circular slices of apples and oranges individually to create attractive and tangy spots for birds to enjoy.
Pine Cone Peanut Butter Ornaments
Collect pinecones of various sizes and using a knife, spread peanut butter on the cones. Roll them in oatmeal and birdseed and add cranberries and raisins too. Using twine or ribbon, hang the pine cones in a tree and watch the acrobatics begin.
Frozen Decorations
Take an aluminum tart holder and fill with water then add cranberries, seeds and nuts. Place the ends of a loop of string into the holder and put outside to freeze. Once frozen solid, hang in the trees by the loops and watch the birds peck out the little treats.
