To ensure that the Health Centre is accessible, a ramp and deck are being added as we write! This is another accessibility project to add to all the others that have been installed around the Camp in the last few years.
We have accessible washrooms and showers, an accessible pathway to the waterfront, a Hoyer Lift to move wheelchair campers into canoes and kayaks, a beach chair to get them safely into the water for a dip, a trail chair so they can access the trail system, an accessible climbing wall – the only one in the region – and some accessible cabins.
The Centre’s ramp and deck build on our commitment to being inclusive.
The exterior plastering of the Centre is next. A mixture of clay, lime, sand and chopped straw will be applied with trowels. Over time this mixture turns to ‘stone’ when exposed to the air and replaces regular plaster which can crack. This plaster has longevity, beauty, and low carbon emissions!
If you are interested in supporting our new Health Centre, we would welcome your contribution!
