2021 is a significant year for Camp Kawartha. It is the 100th anniversary of the Camp which was originally founded in 1921 by a group of Rotarians. Famed Peterborough photographer, Fred Roy of Roy Studio fame, tells us in an early interview that “The Rotary Boys’ Camp was the “brain child” of Rotarian Claude Rogers. It was his inspiration that suggested it, and his initiative that brought it into realization.” Many Rotarians then and since then have contributed their time, talents and hard work to help realize Claude Roger’s dream of making Camp Kawartha a reality and success. And look at us now!
To honour those early visionaries, and to recognize this milestone year, we have started to collect stories, anecdotes, photographs, film and personal remembrances from those staff, volunteers and our hundreds of thousands of campers.
