Rice Lake Rowing Skiff

Bear Mountain Boats produced the drawings and plans for this very stable 14 ft. Rowing Skiff. The boat was built by Joe Paterson using Eastern White Cedar cut from his property in Indian River in 2006. The seasoned logs were later sawn at the restored, water powered Hope Mill (circa 1835) Saw Mill on Indian river, just north of Lang Pioneer Village in 2007.
The lines for this traditional Rice Lake Boat Works Rowing Skiff (late 19th early 20th century) were taken by Ted Moores in 1992 and later re-faired by Steve Killing. Water craft of this type were commonly seen on Rice Lake at the time outboard motors were just coming into use.

Camp Kawartha Cabin Signs
Memories are made of these! The Board of Directors has agreed to rename several cabins, and so the following old cabin signs will be available for bidding at our Surf ‘n’ Turf Dinner & Auction. Huron, Iroquois, Mississauga, Mohawk, Ottawa, Seneca, and Siniwick signs will go to the highest bidder that night. (Unfortunately, the sign for Algonquin is missing.) So, if you have memories of these cabins, you will want to be sure to attend the Dinner & Auction and be ready to bid. We think these artifacts of the Camp will go high. How high is up to you!
