Rogers has proposed the construction of a 93 metre tower (that is 305 feet high) right next to our main nature trails. The tower would be about 300 metres from our main office.
To us a large tower complete with lights, would dominate the landscape and detract from our ability to deliver our nature and environmental programming.

Roger’s has asked for input by the public. The deadline for submissions is November 21st by 4:30 p.m.

Please consider including comments such as the following.
- Camp Kawartha is an award winning outdoor and environmental education centre and camp. We’ve been in operation since 1921.
- We have more than 10,000 visitors in the span of one year. We operate year round.
- The proposed 93 meter (305 foot) guyed tower with lights would be right next to our “outdoor classroom” which consists of the wetlands, trails and forests. We use this land extensively as an integral part of our programming.
- The tower would most certainly impact on our operations – right now campers, students and visitors select Camp Kawartha because of its natural beauty. Astronomy and night hikes are an important part of the experience we offer.
- There is no doubt that a large tower would negatively impact on our revenues and our ability to deliver the programs we have become known for.
- We are not against a tower. Just one that is so close to our learning grounds.
