Ed Arnold

Ed Arnold spent 40 years at The Peterborough Examiner as a reporter and 27 years as its managing editor. He received various award for investigative, feature and column writing.

He has written 18 books, most with local connections, three of them with international publishers. He has received numerous local awards for his work in the community including the Paul Harris award from the Rotary Club.

Ed was recognized by the province receiving one of its highest honours, the Ontario Medal of Citizenship, for helping community children and writing a weekly community column about inspiring people He has also been inducted into the community’s Pathway of Fame for literary work.

Arnold formed and chaired a charitable organization, Kids In Need, to help children who couldn’t help themselves; chaired the Gainey Foundation fundraiser in Peterborough that raised more than $300,000 for young people in Canada and helped form the Kawartha Environmental Centre for young people in Peterborough; chaired the committee that helped build a baseball park strictly for children; chaired the committee that built the Chiasson Memorial Pond in Peterborough and sat on the Peterborough Lakers board as well as the Camp Kawartha board and has helped the local H.O.P.E (Helping Others Participate Equally) group.
