Surf 'n TurfIf you’re looking for THE place to be on Clear Lake in June, it’s Camp Kawartha’s biggest party under the big top, aka SURF’ N TURF on June 20th!

Over the past 25 years the event has ballooned from a small dinner for 50 friends of the Camp in the cozy original dining hall to over 300 guests and 100 staff and volunteers filling a multi-room tent decked out with thousands of twinkle lights overhead that mimic the night sky. After a very happy hour, guests begin to feast on fresh steak and lobster and make their silent bids on the dozens of items donated by local businesses. Summer Camp staff, wearing their signature Camp shirts, scurry around like the perfect army of ants making sure that everything goes off without a hitch.

The level of local involvement is overwhelming, as almost everything has been donated. From the bartender to the entertainment, many generous people have contributed to supporting the Camp’s most crucial fundraiser of the year.

The night winds down with some big ticket items up for live auction –often it’s jewellery, watercraft and fabulous trips – and guests start to make their way to the tables to pay for their purchases and then out into the warm night. Volunteers kick into high gear and everything is taken down and packed up with dizzying speed. The big event is over as fast as it began and the sound of quiet once again reclaims the lakeshore.

Preparations for another mammoth fundraising effort are in full swing. You can be a star at this year’s big night. It’s fun, the food is incredible and the cause of environmental stewardship has never been so important. Please join us.
