Workshop: Caring for Fruit Bushes and Trees
May 28 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm$15
Trees and bushes form the structure of a landscape design. Our haskaps, currants and cherry plum bushes will be arriving from the Green Barn and we will be planting them out and seeding around them. We will take time to discuss the needs of fruit bushes and trees in terms of selection, disease, pruning, pollination and harvesting as well as looking at their functions in the edible landscape.
Instructor: Cathy Hooper, Master Gardener and Permaculture Designer
This workshop is part of the Edible Landscaping Workshop Series.
Each workshop involves both a lesson and hands-on experience. We will all work together to prepare, plant and maintain the garden at the Environment Centre. This allows participants time to ask questions about the process and time to get to know each other and the land as well as our plants and their needs. Teachings are in the permaculture style which incorporates ideas of organic, small scale, intensive, holistic and sustainable living and gardening.
