Ages: 6-15 year olds

We strive to nurture a sense of wonder, character and a deep respect for nature through wilderness living skills, naturalist studies, awareness, play, exploration and direct experiences of the outdoors.

Join this well-established community of home schoolers! We’ve been enjoying adventures at the Trent Wildlife Sanctuary, learning about survival skills, observing nature, making art, and each other’s’ company for over two years and are expanding this very successful program! Led by Craig Brant of Camp Kawartha. Choose between attending Forest Fridays on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

Location: Camp Kawartha Environment Centre, 2505 Pioneer Road, Peterborough

Learn French outside!

In partnership with Hardwood Nature School, Les Petits Amis (4-6) and Les Amis (7-9) will be run at the Environment Centre on Tuesdays this year. At Hardwood Nature School, the outdoor learning programs combine French immersion, nature connection, wilderness skills, and outside play. Students learn and practice French through songs, storytelling, games, imaginative play, and nature exploration.

Location:

We are hosted at the Camp Kawartha Environment Centre on Pioneer Road in Peterborough – one of Canada’s most sustainable buildings. The program takes place within the Trent Nature Area, with access to 200 acres and a variety of ecosystems to play, climb, splash, observe and explore.
