Cathy Romano

Registered Nurse (RN)

Peterborough Regional Health Centre

Cathy Romano is a Registered Nurse with 37 years of experience, presently working in the Emergency Department at Peterborough Regional Health Centre.

She arrived at Camp Kawartha 20 years ago as the camp nurse with her 4 children in tow. She was immediately hooked. The enthusiasm and commitment of the staff impressed her and she could quickly see how Camp Kawartha had an impact on young lives. As a 20 year volunteer she has held many positions at the camp.

In the early years she occasionally assisted with Outdoor Education and returned each summer as the camp nurse. A few years in she saw a need for someone to assist the Summer Camp Director with the health care program and took on the role of Health Care Coordinator, organizing all aspects of camp health care, a role she still presently holds. She also continues to sit on the Health and Safety Committee. As a CPR and First Aid Instructor she has ensured that all staff are trained.

Cathy sat on the Camp Kawartha Board of Directors for 10 years, rising to the role of President. As part of the Site and Facilities Development Committee she is excited to be part of the Capital Campaign to ensure that the excellent work of Camp Kawartha continues on.
