Jason Huffman

Vice-Principal

Kenner Intermediate School

Throughout the past 15 years, Jason’s involvement with Camp Kawartha has evolved a great deal. While he did not have the pleasure of attending the camp as a child, he has been fortunate enough to serve as the summer camp waterfront director (a position that he held for nine years), an outdoor educator, board member, and is currently the board president. Beginning as a university student, Jason’s early camp experiences were formative in nature and enabled him to develop important skills that have had a profound impact on his career in education.

As a Vice-Principal, Jason routinely reflects upon the lessons he has learned at Camp Kawartha and the values that the organization strives to instill in each individual that passes through their gates. Through an emphasis on environmental awareness and appreciation, respect for all individuals, regardless of ability or background, risk-taking and collaboration, the camp highlights the importance of living purposefully and having a positive impact on the world around us. Jason can think of no better lessons or message to support, which is why he has chosen to volunteer his time to participate in the capital campaign.

In assisting to propel the Camp’s mission of developing environmental stewards forward, Jason is working with other dynamic individuals within the community to showcase the importance of Camp Kawartha and its capacity to become a provincial, if not a national leader, in environmental education.
