Fiona Lasenby

Elementary School Teacher

Fiona Lasenby has been fortunate to be part of the Camp Kawartha community and has been involved for over twenty years. She first began her involvement as a sponsored camper, along with her two older sisters. Fiona and her sisters attended the camp every summer until they completed the Leadership in Training program. It is because of the friendships and sense of belonging fostered at Camp Kawartha that Fiona has returned year after year to work in various roles from canoe trip leader, leadership director, head counsellor and assistant summer camp director, as well as teaching Outdoor Education.

Now that Fiona is a kindergarten teacher, she continues to be part of Camp Kawartha. The lessons she learned in creating community and an understanding for others and the environment are important for her to pass on to younger generations. She continues to return to the camp in the summer to lead the Kindercamp program as well as taking her students to the Camp Kawartha Environment Center for their excellent programming.

Fiona’s role in the Capital Campaign focuses on Camp Kawartha Alumni. As the Chair of the Alumni Committee, she is working to galvanize alumni from a wide variety of generations of staff to support the campaign in an effort to raise funds in support of the camp’s vision and mission.
