Staff & Volunteer Award Recipients

Jacob Rodenburg, Executive Director

  • Richards Education Award, presented by Ontario Nature (2007). Awarded to an individual who has succeeded in helping people understand the natural world and become enthusiastic supporters of conservation and environmental protection.
  • Leadership in Environmental Education Award, presented by the Ontario Society of Environmental Educators (2010). Offered annually to one or more persons who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in Environmental Education for at least five years. This award is designed to recognize direct and substantial contributions to the large scale improvement of Environmental Education at any level in the formal education system.
  • 2017 Award of Excellence (honourable mention) recognizing Outstanding Educators from the Canadian Network for Environmental Education & Communication
  • 2017 Stoney Lake Environmental Award for acting to preserve and protect our natural and cultural heritage.
  • Co-authored “The Big Book of Nature Activities” with Drew Monkman. Book awards include: “Green Book Award (Children), Double Gold (Nautilus Book Awards), Silver Moonbeam Children’s Book Award, Finalist for the Independent Book Awards (Indie)

Neil Fortin, Head of Outdoor Education

  • Received an award from the Peterborough Field Naturalists (2013). Awarded for his work with the Junior Field Naturalists.

Cathy Romano, Health Care Coordinator

  • Volunteerism Award, presented by the Kawartha Chamber of Commerce Awards of Excellence (2010). Presented to an individual in recognition of their volunteer contribution within the County of Peterborough.
